Financial Information

All students must submit proof of financial resources at the time of application to AIU. Please see the How to Apply page for the required amount that must be proved.

The breakdown of these estimates is as follows.

1. Admission Fee is charged once at the time of admission.

2. Tuition Fee is for one semester. Winter Program tuition fee is waived for all students.

3. Room Fee varies depending on the housing facility. Please see the housing information page.

4. Bedding & Cleaning Fee is mandatory and includes rental and weekly cleaning of the bedding linen set. Please see the housing information page.

5. Mandatory Meal Fee for the first two weeks is included in the invoice and must be paid before your arrival.

6. Meal Fee after the first two weeks must be paid after your arrival. Meal fee varies depending on the meal options. Please see the dining information page.

7. Deposit covers bank transaction fees. The balance will be refunded at the time of the student’s departure from AIU. It is charged once at the time of admission.

8. Student Activity Fee includes fees for extracurricular activities, festivals, and various on-campus events as well as legally-mandated insurance of approximately 10,000 JPY per semester.

Please carefully note that the estimates in Table 2 are quoted purely for applicants’ reference. The actual costs of travel expenses, textbooks, and personal expenses vary depending on the location of your home country, courses taken at AIU, and your lifestyle.

Students enrolled in the fall semester may register for the optional intensive Winter Program. The fee structure for this program and estimated cost of living expenses for the winter are listed below.

Students who did not originally enroll in the Winter Program and wish to join after arrival at AIU will be able to enroll in the program during the fall semester Extension Application Period.

1. Fees marked “N/A” in Table 3 above are paid at admission and do not need to be paid again during the Winter Program.

4. Student Activity Fee covers National Health Insurance fees and expenses related to activities, including maintenance of AIU campus facilities, etc., that are used for student activities. This fee applies to all students during the full duration of their enrollment at AIU, even if they are away from campus during the Winter Program. Non-refundable.
